The Waxing Half Moon is always 50% illuminated on the evening Pentecost begins.

This is a part of the Sign of Jonah! Christ is Half Way through His time in His grave when the Wave Sheaf is Offered. The Half Moon is a visible type of this. The Feast of Weeks, First Fruits, Pentecost is a fixed day; the day of the Half Moon Waxing, growing to harvest.

Since the Dark of the Moon, the molad or conjunction takes up 1 or 1½ day this dark period compensates for the synodic period that lasts from 28.4 to 29.4 days. Thus the numbered months determined via the visible crescent keep Pentecost on the 7th day of the 3rd month. If however you attempt to use a calendar or the molad or conjunction timing methods then Pentecost according to man made calendars could be on the 6th or 7th or even the 5th , 6th or 7th day of Sivan. This is visible proof in the Heavens for the Lord’s timing method and refutes both calendars and molads/conjunction mistiming methods.

This chart plainly shows there is a set pattern to the Holy days. Those who think that the wave sheaf offering is after the weekly Sabbath would have Pentecost fall on any phase of the moon from nearly full to last thin crescent. It would differ from all the other Holy Days that only occur at set phases of the moon, on set days in set times. It would be arbitrary and confusing and God’s people would have no way to tell the time of Pentecost. The sun and moon are God’s timepieces.

Genesis 1: 14 [14] “Then God said, “Let there be luminaries in the firmament of heaven, to give light on the Earth; to make a separation between the day and the night: and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and for years;” (Thomson).

God’s Holy Day Cycle, is exactly the same every year.

If you start the timing of the Sabbaths with the first visible crescent in the season of spring which begins on or after the Vernal Equinox then the High Sabbaths always fall on the proper days and with the correct phases of the moon.

The High Sabbath days of the week also have a cycle that is exact.

First of Abib and First Day of Unleavened Bread are always the same day of the week

Passover and the Last Day of Unleavened Bread are the same day of the week

Atonement is always it’s own separate day of the week.

Pentecost, Trumpets, First Day of Tabernacles and the Day of The Lord also called the Last Great Day are all the same day of the week.

The Last day of Tabernacles and the Full Moon announcing the start of Tabernacles are the same day.

In conclusion the phases of the moon for the High Sabbath Days are exactly the same during any year. Further certain groups of High Sabbath Days fall on the same day of the week in any given year.

God is not the author of confusion. Satan is the author of confusion.

The Septuagint was an Old Testament text both Jesus and Paul knew and used and Paul never warned us that it was in error on the counting to Pentecost. It clearly shows the date for the wave sheaf offering to be the 16th of Abib at sunrise, hence the date for a Pentecost that is the 7th day of the 3rd month. This is similar to Trumpets the 1st day of the 7th month.

One last proof that Pentecost is counted from the wave sheaf offering on the morning of the 16th of Abib comes from the written historical record of 2,000 years ago. Josephus who was also a Pharisee gives us his historical testimony on what day to begin the count. He had no reason to lie on this point, a point that to him was of no great importance.

5.“In the month of Xanthicus, which is by us called Nisan, and is the beginning of our year, on the fourteenth day of the lunar month, when the sun is in Aries, (for in this month it was that we were delivered from bondage under the Egyptians), the law ordained that we should every year slay the sacrifice which I before told you we slew when we came out of Egypt, and which was called the Passover; and so we do celebrate this Passover in companies, leaving nothing of what we sacrifice till the day following. The feast of unleavened bread succeeds that of the Passover, and falls on the following fifteenth day of the month, and continues seven days, wherein they feed on unleavened bread; on every one of which days two bulls are killed, and one ram, and seven lambs.

Now these lambs are entirely burnt, besides the kid of the goats which is added to all the rest, for sins; for it is intended as a feast for the priest on every one of those days. But on the second day of unleavened bread, which is the sixteenth day of the month, they partake of the fruits of the Earth, for before that day they do not touch them. And while they suppose it proper to honor God, from whom they obtain this plentiful provision, in the first place, they offer the first-fruits of their barley, and that in the manner following: They take a handful of the ears, and dry them, then beat them small, and purge the barley from the bran; they then bring one tenth deal to the altar, to god; and casting one handful of it in the fire, they leave the rest for the use of the priest. And after this it is that they may publicly or privately reap their harvest. They also at this participation of the first-fruits of the Earth, sacrifice a lamb, as a burnt-offering to God.” [Josephus, Antiquities]

Why is there confusion over the timing of the Holy Days as the Word revealed them to Moses at Mount Sinai? For those who have been confused on this point what were their arguments based on? Well, first they used the Masoretic text and not the Septuagint. They also used Joshua, Chapter 5 verses 10 & 11 to justify always celebrating Pentecost on a Sunday or sometimes a Monday. Here is why they were confused.

In regards to the verse found in Joshua, chapter 5 verses 10 & 11 Some people feel that this verse states and proves that the Children of Israel ate grain from the new harvest on the day after Passover that is on the First Day of Unleavened Bread the 15th of Abib and not the 16th of Abib which would be the following day and that this 15th of Abib must therefore have been a Sunday and hence the day of the wave sheaf offering and the beginning of the count.

Originally some correctly realized the two verses were not talking of consecutive days but incorrectly counted 51 days hence a selection of a Monday for a Pentecost on the 16th of Abib. The mistake was linking the Wave Sheaf Offering day to the weekly Sabbath and not using the Septuagint text and incorrectly counting.

Those who believe this, that Pentecost is always a Sunday, and start counting count from the weekly Sabbath, do so because otherwise they think Joshua would had committed a violation of the statute in Leviticus 23: 14 & 15. “You shall not eat bread, nor parched grains, of the new corn, until you have offered these gifts to God.” .

These people also assume that the Sunday following the Sabbath Resurrection in 31 AD was the Wave Sheaf Offering Day. This is why they assume that the day following the Passover in the year the Children of Israel entered in to the Promised Land was also a Sunday and why they begin the count to Passover on the weekly Sabbath during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. They also mistake the Risen Christ’s ascension to His Father as being the fulfillment of the Wave Sheaf Offering. They do not understand about gifts of first fruits and how they differ from a sin offering. A gift offering may have been leavened at one time but it can also be sweet as honey when redeemed after the Wave Sheaf Sacrifice. This is a type of the elect of God who are gift offerings from Christ to His father.

Joshua 5: 10 & 11 in the original Greek Septuagint does not read like it does in translations from the Masoretic text such as the King James or New King James versions. In the Septuagint the two events preparing the Passover and Eating of the new harvest are not explicitly stated to have occurred on the same day. The First statement, verse 10, is that they prepared the Passover in the plain of Jericho. The next verse 11 states that the Manna from Heaven ceased on the very day that the people ate of the new harvest.

The two events are not linked as occurring on the same day rather that the two events occurred on separate days. Neither is any statement made that they were even consecutive days. No mention of what relationship theses days had to each other is given. Thomson renders verse 10 as, [10] “And on the fourteenth of the same month, towards evening, the children of Israel prepared the Passover on the confines of Jericho in the plain of Jordan.’

Verse 11 is a totally separate verse and its’ only relationship to verse 10 is that it is the next verse. Thomson clearly shows this, that they are separate verses, by the insertion of the numeral “11” between the two sentences. Separate sentences with different numbers.

Thompson’s word order does however translate it poorly. Sir Lancelot Brenton’s version and word order is much clearer. Thomson reads,

Joshua 5: [10] “ And on the fourteenth of the same month, towards evening, the children of Israel prepared the Passover on the confines of Jericho in the plain of Jordan. [11] and ate of the corn of the land, unleavened cakes and parched corn. On that very day, after they had eaten the corn of the land, [12] the manna ceased, and there was no more a supply of manna for the children of Israel. So they foraged the country of the Phoenicians that year [13].” (Thomson.)

A clearer translation read and more succinct word order makes this separate sentence read.

[11] “And on that very day, after they ate unleavened cakes and parched corn of the land, the manna ceased. [12] They had eaten of the corn of the land and there was no more a supply of manna for the children of Israel so they foraged the country of the Phoenicians that year.” [13]

This version allows the periods to all fall within their proper verses and the verses are now complete sentences and the meaning is now clear. It clearly shows that the following day in the morning there was no manna which appeared in the morning.

Sir Lancelot Brenton renders it thus:

Joshua 5: 10 to 11, [10] “And the children of Israel kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at evening, to the westward of Jericho on the opposite side of the Jordan in the plain. [11] And they ate of the grain of the Earth unleavened and new corn.” [12] In this day the manna failed, after they had eaten of the corn of the land, and the children of Israel no longer had manna; and they took the fruits of the land of the Phonecians in that year.” [13] (Brenton).

Why did this confusion over Pentecost happen? Did some of the chief priests of the Sanhedrin, like Caiaphas, the High Priest who condemned the Messiah, [John 19:6}, have any reason to change the text of the Hebrew Bible Moses wrote with his own hand into a new and different text? A text that has become known as the Masoretic text and that has supplanted the Bible Moses wrote. Why would their descendents continue the practice? Could it bee they realized whom they had murdered and attempted a cover-up? Could it be that by changing the day of the Wave Sheaf Offering and the start of the count to Pentecost that they could claim Jesus was not the Wave Sheaf Offering killed and sacrificed by them so hence they could wash their hands clean of Messiah’s murder as Pontius Pilate had the wisdom and foresight to do? In their eyes Moses would understand. After all the First Sabbath and weekly Sabbath are both Sabbaths so it was only a little change in the wording and not a true deception, just semantics, really.
